Flowers

In todays women's lib climate, flowers seem to be a lost art. Guys will still send them on occasion; Valentine's Day, an anniversary, Mother's Day. But why don't guys show up at our doors with them anymore, or bring them home on a Tuesday, or pick a bunch themselves to hand a girl? I think as women we have allowed equality to mean sameness. Men and women are not the same. Equal does not mean similar. I believe that this decline can be changed. I am optimistic that if we use our equality properly, we can show that while we have the same rights as a man, we are also blessedly dissimilar. Women have the right to work, the right to play sports and the right to be in politics. But just as men have the right to try out for the lead in a school play, it doesn't mean we have to use it. Today, I say, expect flowers, allow yourself to be the female in your relationship. The world needs balance, and there's nothing wrong with a little sweet smelling nature adorning your table now and again.
